9-Day Novena · Feast: May 15

St. Dymphna

Patron of Mental Health & Anxiety

St. Dymphna, Irish princess and martyr, is the patron of those suffering from mental illness, anxiety, depression, and nervous disorders. She fled an abusive situation and gave her life for purity and faith.

About This Novena

Dymphna understands mental suffering from the inside — her own family was her danger. She is especially close to those who suffer in silence, who feel trapped, who carry invisible wounds.

OPENING PRAYER

Good St. Dymphna, great wonder-worker in every affliction of mind and body, I humbly implore your powerful intercession with Jesus through Mary, the Health of the Sick, in my present need. St. Dymphna, martyr of purity, patroness of those who suffer with nervous and mental afflictions, I place myself under your care.
